San Manuel Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located about 32 miles north of Tucson in San Manuel, Arizona,
San Manuel Golf Club first opened for play in 1970
The San Manuel Country Club plays to a 9-hole par-36 and maximum 9-hole distance of 3,649 yards. The middle tees measure 3,388 yards with the red tees measuring 2,781 yards.
This course features grass from tee to green, but the natural desert comes into play on both sides of the fairways. The greens are elevated, and the terrain is hilly, but it is a pleasant course to walk. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including both sides of hole #4, a 211-yard, par 3.
There are additional sets of tees positions that can be used when playing a double loop eighteen hole round from the men's and ladies' tee boxes.
San Manuel was a company town built to serve the San Manuel copper mine. As the mine's fortune rose and fell, so did the town's. When copper prices fell in the late 1990s, Broken Hill Proprietary (BHP), the owner of the mine and smelter complex shuttered both operations in June 1999. The closing saw 2,500 people lose their jobs. The mine and smelter were permanently closed in 2003. The course held on for some time but finally closed in 2008.

Absolutely the worst course I have ever even heard of, let alone played. If it were the last course on earth, I would sell my clubs. Owners...please either close this place...burn it...have Bill Murray take at it with dynamite...ANYthing but continuing to charge people hard-earned money to fight the horrific condition of this pasture.

The course shut down in 2008, yet the only other review is from 2011. No wonder it was in such bad shape , lol! I was the groundskeeper at this course from 1991-1997, and it was in great shape back then. It’s a shame it went downhill like that.
